About Me

Jaga headshot.JPGI hold a degree in Person Centred counselling and have seven years of experience working therapeutically with clients.  I am a member of the BACP.

I also work as an independent Child Advocate, representing at meetings children and vulnerable adults from families that the Social Services have become involved with.

My full name is Jadwiga Heys, Jaga for short.  I am of Polish origin, born and bred in Britain, so I am a native speaker in English and a fluent speaker in Polish.  I am a wife, mother and grandmother.

As many – it is fairly common knowledge that it is 1 in 4 people - I have suffered from mental dis-ease.  I chose to help myself through counselling which I found helpful and healing.  Additionally, I found that any insights or solutions which came from me during counselling were the ones that I was able to stick with and act upon.  Having experienced counselling as a client, I feel that I can empathise all the more easily with my own clients, e.g. how nervous they may feel at their first session.

With much life experience, I was drawn to the Person Centred way of offering counselling because it fits well with my personal philosophy and faith, e.g. respecting each person uniqueness and right to make their own decisions.
